- Sun Under Wood, by Robert Hass. Selected poems from the great American poet. I’ve always been drawn to Hass’ natural insights, textual flow, great imagery, etc.
- Meditations, by Marcus Aurelius (translated by Gregory Hays). Never intended for publication, this incredible “self-help” journal, one of the great journals of all time, provides timeless insights and recommendations and philosophy from a man nearing the end of a very full life. A Stoic masterpiece.
- The New York Trilogy, by Paul Auster. Impossible to describe, or put down, each story a mystery and philosophical treatise on identity and reality, all served up in the middle of our most unique American metropolis.
- Man: an Autobiography, by George R. Stewart. Saw it up on the high and dusty shelf of a local book store, and was drawn to its old-fashioned set-up: “Man” writing an autobiography about his beginnings and middle and . . .
