Snapshot of current reading list – great sci-fi, linguistics, biography and historical letters:

• Childhood’s End, by Arthur C. Clarke.  The science fiction classic, uncannily prescient; this edition is from 1961, just a few years after its publication.
• Consolations, by David Whyte.  Still reading, a great book to periodically dive into; for word lovers, especially those that enjoy the subtlety of meaning embedded in everyday words.
• Muhammad Ali Ringside, compiled and edited by John Miller & Aaron Kenedi. I love all things Muhammad, and this is a fantastic collection of tickets from his most famous fights, Ali quotes and insights from great authors and other fighters.
• Letters of Note, compiled by Shaun Usher. Famous letters, ‘real’ letters (this ain’t Twitter) from the well-known and unknown, across a variety of human subjects.
• Modern English Usage, 2nd Edition, by Henry Watson Fowler.  The witty and wonderful ‘dictionary’ for those who love words and their meanings – particularly if you’d like to understand the  difference between ‘flotsam’ and ‘jetsam’.
